Boogie Boarding

Wire, white yarn, blue yarn

6" x 2"

Artist Statement:

This sculpture reflects time spent with my two sisters boogie boarding in the ocean. In this memory, my sisters and I would boogie board next to each other and catch waves and float to the sand. The wrapping movement of the yarn represents the way waves crash in circular movements. The blue yarn represents the sparkly blue water that we swam in. The white/cream colored yarn represents the sand that we would be touching with our feet. The shape of the piece shows three loops which represents my two sisters and I. The organic shape of the piece emphasizes the movement of the ocean that we would float on with our boogie boards.
